Method 1: Programming to a Garage Door Opener with a Learn Button
This method applies to most modern garage door openers (manufactured 1993-present) that feature a 'Learn' button on the motor unit.
- Locate the Learn Button: On your garage door opener motor unit, find the 'Learn' button. The color of the button or the LED next to it indicates the technology:
- Yellow Learn Button: Security+ 2.0 (manufactured 2011-present)
- Purple Learn Button: Security+ 315 MHz (manufactured 2005-2011)
- Red/Orange Learn Button: Security+ 390 MHz (manufactured 1996-2005)
- Green Learn Button: Billion Code 390 MHz (manufactured 1993-1997)
- Washa Hali ya Kujifunza: Press and immediately release the 'Learn' button on your garage door opener. The learn indicator light will glow steadily for 30 seconds.
- Program the Remote: Within 30 seconds, press and hold the desired button on your 894LT remote control.

- Identify DIP Switch Settings: Open the battery cover of your existing remote control or the control panel of your garage door opener/gate operator to view the DIP switch settings. Note the position of each switch (ON, OFF, or for Trinary: +, 0, -).
- Enter Learn Mode on 894LT: Press and hold the two outside buttons (buttons 1 and 4) on the 894LT remote until the LED light turns solid.
- Select Button for Programming: Press and release the desired button on the 894LT remote that you wish to program. The LED will flash slowly.
- Transmit Existing Code: Hold your existing, working remote control approximately 1-2 inches away from the 894LT remote. Press and hold the button on your existing remote that operates the device you want to control.
- Confirm Learning: Continue holding the button on the existing remote until the LED on the 894LT remote flashes rapidly and then turns solid. This indicates the code has been learned.
- Exit Learn Mode: Press any button on the 894LT remote that was not programmed, or wait 30 seconds for the remote to exit learn mode automatically.
- Mtihani: Press the newly programmed button on your 894LT remote to confirm it operates the garage door or gate.
If you are programming to a system with 9-Trinary DIP switches, ensure your existing remote is transmitting the correct code for the 894LT to learn accurately.
