1. Utangulizi
This instruction manual provides important information for the safe and efficient operation, installation, and maintenance of your Steinbach CPS40-1 Filter Pump. Please read this manual thoroughly before operating the pump and keep it for future reference. Proper installation and adherence to these guidelines will ensure optimal performance and longevity of your filter pump.
The Steinbach CPS40-1 is a non-self-priming filter pump designed for use with pool filter systems, specifically compatible with the ECO 30 filter system. It is engineered to circulate water efficiently, contributing to a clean and healthy swimming environment.
2. Taarifa za Usalama
ONYO: Soma maonyo yote ya usalama na maagizo yote. Kukosa kufuata maonyo na maagizo kunaweza kusababisha mshtuko wa umeme, moto na/au majeraha mabaya.
- Usalama wa Umeme: Always disconnect the pump from the power supply before performing any maintenance or installation. Ensure the power supply matches the pump's requirements (230 V / 200 W). Use a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) for electrical connections to prevent electric shock. Do not operate the pump with a damaged cord or plug.
- Usalama wa Maji: Never operate the pump dry. Ensure the pump is always filled with water before starting to prevent damage. The maximum water temperature for operation is 35 °C.
- Usakinishaji: Install the pump in a well-ventilated area, protected from direct sunlight and adverse weather conditions. Ensure stable placement to prevent vibration and movement.
- Watoto: Keep children away from the pump and its electrical connections. This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety.
- Matengenezo: Only qualified personnel should perform repairs. Use only original spare parts.
3. Bidhaa Imeishaview na Vipengele
The Steinbach CPS40-1 Filter Pump is a compact and efficient unit designed for pool water circulation. Key components include the motor, pump housing, inlet, and outlet connections.

Kielelezo 3.1: Zaidiview of the Steinbach CPS40-1 Filter Pump. This image shows the main body of the pump, including the motor housing, pump head, and electrical cable connection. The blue connection nut for the outlet hose is visible on the left side.
The pump features a robust design with a clear identification label providing essential technical data.

Figure 3.2: Close-up of the technical label on the Steinbach CPS40-1 pump. The label displays critical specifications such as model number (PUMP CPS40-1, 00-40925), maximum head (Hmax=6.5m), maximum flow rate (Qmax=75 l/min), voltage (V230~), frequency (Hz 50), power (200Watt), and country of manufacture (MADE IN P.R.C.).
4. Kuweka na Kuweka
Proper setup is crucial for the pump's performance and safety. Follow these steps carefully:
- Uwekaji: Position the pump on a stable, level surface near your pool filter system. Ensure it is protected from direct weather exposure and has adequate ventilation. As this is a non-self-priming pump, it must be installed below the water level of the pool to ensure continuous water supply to the pump.
- Viunganisho:
- Connect the inlet hose from the pool to the pump's suction port.
- Connect the outlet hose from the pump's discharge port to your filter system (e.g., ECO 30 filter system).
- Ensure all connections are tight and leak-free. The pump supports connection diameters of 32/38 mm.
- Priming (Important for Non-Self-Priming Pumps): Before initial startup, the pump must be completely filled with water. If the pump is installed below water level, opening the inlet valve should allow water to flow into the pump by gravity. Ensure all air is expelled from the pump housing.
- Muunganisho wa Umeme: Connect the pump to a grounded 230 V / 50 Hz power outlet. Always use a GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) for safety. Ensure the power cord is not pinched or damaged.
5. Maagizo ya Uendeshaji
Mara tu pampu ikiwa imewekwa vizuri na kuwekewa plasta, unaweza kuanza kufanya kazi:
- Uanzishaji wa Awali: After ensuring the pump is filled with water and all connections are secure, switch on the power supply to the pump. The pump should start circulating water immediately.
- Ufuatiliaji: Observe the pump during the first few minutes of operation for any unusual noises, leaks, or signs of air in the system. If the pump does not prime or runs dry, switch it off immediately, re-prime, and check for blockages or leaks.
- Operesheni inayoendelea: The pump is designed for continuous operation within its specified limits. Do not exceed the maximum water temperature of 35 °C.
- Kuzimisha: To turn off the pump, simply switch off the power supply. For extended periods of non-use, especially during winter, follow the maintenance guidelines for storage.
The pump's performance curve illustrates its flow rate (Q) versus pump height (H).

Figure 5.1: Performance curve for the Steinbach CPS40-1 pump. This graph shows the relationship between the pump's flow rate (Q in l/min or m³/h) and the maximum pump height (H in meters) it can achieve. The curve indicates that as the pump height increases, the flow rate decreases. The 200W power rating is marked on the curve.
6. Matengenezo
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and efficient operation of your pump. Always disconnect power before maintenance.
- Ukaguzi wa Kawaida: Periodically inspect the pump for any signs of wear, damage, or leaks. Check the power cord for integrity.
- Kusafisha: Keep the pump exterior clean. Do not use harsh chemicals. Ensure the motor's ventilation openings are free from debris.
- Winterization (for seasonal use):
- Drain all water from the pump to prevent freezing damage.
- Disconnect all hoses and electrical connections.
- Store the pump in a dry, frost-free location.
- Ukaguzi wa Impeller: If flow rate decreases, check the impeller for blockages from debris. This may require professional assistance or careful disassembly.
7. Utatuzi wa shida
Before contacting customer support, refer to the following table for common issues and their solutions:
| Tatizo | Sababu inayowezekana | Suluhisho |
|---|---|---|
| Pampu haianza. | No power supply; tripped GFCI; motor fault. | Check power connection and GFCI. If still not working, contact a qualified technician. |
| Pampu inapita lakini hakuna mtiririko wa maji. | Pump not primed; air in system; clogged inlet/impeller; closed valves. | Switch off, re-prime the pump. Check for blockages in hoses or impeller. Ensure all valves are open. |
| Mtiririko wa chini wa maji. | Partial blockage; air leak in suction line; worn impeller. | Check for partial blockages. Inspect suction line for leaks. Consider professional inspection for impeller wear. |
| Kelele nyingi au mtetemo. | Air in pump; loose mounting; foreign object in impeller. | Re-prime the pump. Ensure pump is securely mounted. Disconnect power and check impeller for foreign objects. |
